The Web Bureau team went on tour to ‘Legenderry’ at the weekend to join with the best of Northern Ireland’s creative and digital industry in celebrating the 3rd Annual Digital Advertising Northern Ireland awards.
Located in the impressive St Columbs Hall in Derry city centre in County Londonderry, the event was organised by DANI’s Naomh McElhatton and Donna Mullin, and hosted by another of Northern Ireland’s ‘leading ladies’, May McFetridge.
The DANI Awards (#thedaniawards or #daniawards for all the tweeters) was a lavish event in the week-long CultureTech Festival programme of speakers, artists, performers and industry professionals from digital media, technology, music and the arts.
The theme for the evening, ‘Geek Chic’, very aptly represented the vivid mix of talented technical, quirky, strategic and creative individuals who make up this flourishing industry sector. Our very own trend setting digital dudes and divas are no different.
The Web Bureau men sported a mix of black tie suits, stripy t-shirts, converse trainers and thick black rimmed glasses, while our lovely ladies did not disappoint either, rocking the Geek Chic look in posh frocks, high heels, vintage and modern hair-do’s and multi-coloured glasses. the Web Bureau team undoubtedly looked every bit as impressive as the digital media projects we pride ourselves in delivering. Thankfully, the judges were in agreement.
We were pleased to receive a ‘Highly Commended’ award in the Web Project of the Year category, collected by our Technical Director, Colin Graham for our work on the SS Nomadic website, www.nomadicbelfast.com, despite being pipped at the post by runners up, Being for the NI Water Website and category winners Ardmore for the Linen Hall Library project.
As the time came for the penultimate award of the evening to be announced, we were both quietly confident and extremely hopeful that the best was yet to come and it was. After waiting in anticipation for the judges’ decision to be announced we were delighted to hear The Web Bureau heralded as Northern Ireland’s Digital Agency of the Year. As our table erupted with cheers, claps, woohoo’s and air punches, Paul Haslam, Creative Director made his way to the stage to receive our award, along with a big sloppy kiss from May, and even treated us to a little victory dance across the stage.
This set the scene for the remainder of the evening which included some musical entertainment and ended in the wee small hours with a tired but happy bunch of people gathered in the living room of our delightful country residence for the night, Groarty Manor. #GoodTimes
The Web Bureau team would like to say a huge thank you to all our colleagues in the industry for a great night, many touching words of congratulations, expressions of respect for our work and appreciation for our contribution to Northern Ireland’s digital industry (you know who you are). Of course, we’d also like to thank all our customers and employees who support us from year to year and have all contributed to making this great achievement possible.
